2021 Gamay Noir Magnum 1.5L Magnum

This is a blend of two clones picked two weeks apart from the exceptional Two Terraces vineyard in the Mangatahi Terraces region. Ian and Linda Quinn are conscientious and detail-oriented growers, producing outstanding quality grapes. They grow 1.8 ha of Gamay, shared amongst 4 different winemakers. 

This is a 100% carbonic maceration wine (whole clusters fermented uncrushed in a closed vessel) and aged in older neutral oak barrels. No additions were done at any stage, including sulphur. The wine is unfiltered and unfined.

The final wine is light and soft on the palate and is great lightly chilled. Fresh strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants on the nose and the palate with some whole bunch character from the carbonic maceration. It works well on its own for apéro or with charcuterie, cheeses and grilled meats.
